the owner + artist

hi there! i'm libby sharp of oh, little wren. i like coffee with milk, long walks in not hot weather, wearing sweatshirts and flip flops, and drawing with my kids. i dislike capital letters, having lots of plans, and extra noises.

i'm the virginia based artist, maker and business owner behind oh, little wren. here, i create thoughtful products that invite families to connect, create and celebrate the everyday. the shop blends handcrafted wooden keepsakes, which I design and bring to life in my own workshop, with illustrated paper goods like my woodland-themed deck of playing cards, animal faces matching game, and playful pretend play sets. over the past eight years, i’ve had the joy of slowly building oh, little wren alongside my family, and it’s a delight to know my products get to be a small part of your family’s story.

a long time in the making

oh, little wren is actually my third career. and not one i saw coming 20 years ago. before this i was an aerospace engineer designing exhaust systems for jet engines (seriously, a lot of those skills translate to small business) and then an engineering professor. i loved each for lots of reasons, but after having my second daughter i knew i wanted to be at home more. but i also knew i needed a creative outet. so i started oh, little wren.

slow + steady

for a very long time, i didn’t know what oh, little wren was. i just knew i loved making things, and would try just about anything. there are two things that have stuck over these 8 years though--making laser cut wooden keepsakes in my basement shop and illustrating colorful, whimsical family games and gifts. these two hit all of my current creative loves--drawing beautifully detailed things, executing on a precision product, and owning every single aspect down to the packaging sticker.

our big why

watching my kids grow up alongside this business is amazing. they know, without hesitation, that their mom is an artist and has a shop and ‘makes the best things’. they know that they can bring their ideas to life, because they watch me do it, and i’m so grateful for that.

and so i hope i’m creating things that bring connection for you and your family. oh, little wren has always been about making things that i want to be a part of my family life and my family culture, and i hope it serves as an invitation to you to connect more intentionally through the everyday moments. whether it's just playing a few more family games together because your deck of cards or matching game is really beautiful or starting a new yearly tradition of family connectedness around the custom ornaments you’ve bought, that’s what it’s all truly about.
